Luminous mushrooms
Mycena
minutissimum.[Maguire

|
Brief overview
only:
Mycena minutissimum.[Maguire
2006] .(Originally classified as
Type_D, status = rare)
A smaller more delicate
luminous mushroom of 5 to 6mm pileus (cap) diameter that appears in scattered form
on the rough bark collar of rainforest trees usually close to the ground, but occasionally
high up in the trees. The specimen above was one of over 100 on a rough-barked tree branch
approx 6 metres above ground. It is rarely sighted.

 |
This minute
specimen had been found previously and incorrectly assumed to be a stunted form of Type_C
.
To find it again in two different locations in large numbers has proven otherwise.
There are noticable differences:
- in the configuration of the hymenium,
- size, and growth habit and,
- the display of a lesser number of gills to Type_C. |

This Mycena is easily
recognized by its' smaller size and the concave nature of the pileus on maturity. |
